Some Republicans have criticized Democrats for dragging their feet with the bill and deliberately being pernickety.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p>JUST IN:  Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso tells the Senate \u201cits time for the Senate to build on [the GENIUS Act] by passing the Clarity Act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;America is safer and stronger when we innovate&#8221;  <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LPG11vESle\">pic.twitter.com\/LPG11vESle<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bitcoin Magazine (@BitcoinMagazine) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BitcoinMagazine\/status\/2085411739424694496?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 6, 2026<\/a>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s time for the Senate to build on [the Genius Act] by passing the Clarity Act,\u201d Barrosso said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bipartisan work has gone into putting the bill together, and on Wednesday, Senator Thom Tillis <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/white-house-reviewing-crypto-clarity-act\">reportedly<\/a> said that the White House was reviewing the latest amendments to the bill.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But on Thursday, Punchbowl News Senior Reporter Brendan Pendersen <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BrendanPedersen\/status\/2085417020288389396\">posted<\/a> on X that Tillis had said he hadn\u2019t yet heard back from the White House, despite optimism this week and Senate Majority Leader John Thune previously telling reporters that they were hoping for a vote before the break.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawmakers have other proposed bills to vote on ahead of their recess and the Clarity Act seems to have been pushed back.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bill, which would set in stone digital asset regulation in the U.S., was passed last year by the House of Representatives. It has since become a much fatter text, according to Senator Cynthia Lummis, thanks to Democrats who wanted more added to the draft.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since July, a new text with changes regarding ethics has been circulating among lawmakers.
