This time from the Major Cities Chiefs Association.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The nonprofit \u2014 made up of police chiefs from major U.S. cities \u2014 said Thursday that it was happy with how the bill addresses financial crime.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lawmakers are hoping the Clarity Act gets passed before Congress departs for August recess. While the bill has been drafted bipartisanly, some Democrats are unhappy with the current version.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<p>JUST IN:  Pro organization of police executives representing the largest cities in the U.S. now officially endorse the passage of the Clarity Act: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/r6YnaTrrW5\">pic.twitter.com\/r6YnaTrrW5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bitcoin Magazine (@BitcoinMagazine) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BitcoinMagazine\/status\/2082833653583716510?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 30, 2026<\/a>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe most recent changes to the legislation have earned MCCA\u2019s support,\u201d a letter from the organization, first <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Eleanor_Mueller\/status\/2082817482314653747\">posted<\/a> on X by Semafor White House reporter Eleanor Mueller, reads.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCritically, the bill now includes a new title with additional law enforcement provisions,\u201d it continued, adding that the latest update \u201crepresents a meaningful step toward improving the ability of law enforcement to investigate financial crimes involving digital assets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week, The National Fraternal Order of Police said it supported the bill. And Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto this week sent some suggested changes to the bill, along with two law enforcement groups, that she said they felt \u201cgood\u201d about.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Major financial institutions, lawmakers and companies have said they support the latest draft of the new bill, but a group of Democrats last week said in a statement that the legislation in its current form falls short.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite being passed in the house of representatives last year with strong bipartisan support, the Clarity Act has been in a deadlock for much of 2026. The banking lobby raised concerns over stablecoin yield and some lawmakers have said improvements need to be made surrounding ethics.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An updated bill of the Clarity Act was introduced last week that addressed some of these concerns \u2014 banning government officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Democrats \u2014 and some Republicans \u2014 have criticized President Trump\u2019s crypto business interests, with some alleging conflicts of interest as his family has made money from meme coins and the decentralized finance protocol, World Liberty Financial.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Republicans are hoping to gain <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/republicans-want-democrats-clarity-support\">bipartisan support<\/a> for the bill this week to advance the legislation.
