He emphasized that adding Bitcoin to the balance sheet would both signal alignment with the crypto community and tie up capital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you put it [Bitcoin] on your balance sheet, it has the positives in that you\u2019re aligned with the community, but it does take up capital,\u201d Tenev said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre we making that decision for them? Cryptocurrency trading accounted for about 20% of the company\u2019s total income during the quarter, driven by what CFO Jason Warnick called a \u201cnice step-up in crypto volumes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tenev also outlined Robinhood\u2019s broader <a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/robinhood-ceo-vlad-tenev-says-000107611.html\" target=\"_blank\">digital asset ambitions<\/a>, including plans to expand its tokenized stock program. \u201cWhere it really starts to get interesting is phase two and phase three,\u201d he said, referring to potential secondary trading on Bitstamp and eventual integration with DeFi platforms.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bitcoin as a corporate reserve strategy\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Bitcoin is emerging as a reserve asset strategy among public and private companies seeking protection from currency debasement and inflation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following the playbook popularized by <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/markets\/bitcoin-price-dipped-below-109000-as-strategy-buys-397-more-bitcoin\">Strategy<\/a>, Japan-based Metaplanet has become one of the most aggressive adopters in Asia, using <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/markets\/metaplanet-draws-100-million-bitcoin\">debt financing to accumulate Bitcoin<\/a> as a core treasury holding.<\/p>\n<p>Metaplanet recently tapped a $100 million loan to expand its Bitcoin reserves, framing the move as a long-term monetary hedge rather than a speculative bet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The company now holds thousands of BTC on its balance sheet and describes its approach as \u201ca corporate response to a weakening yen and global monetary instability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/tags\/microstrategy\">Strategy<\/a> announced the purchase of 397 bitcoin for approximately $45.6 million at an average price of $114,771 per Bitcoin.
