Changpeng \u201cCZ\u201d Zhao and Peter Schiff are supposedly taking their long-running argument to the stage.<\/p>\n

The Binance founder has agreed to debate the outspoken economist and gold advocate after Schiff publicly challenged him<\/a> to a \u201cBitcoin versus tokenized gold\u201d discussion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The exchange follows Schiff\u2019s announcement that he\u2019s launching his own blockchain-based gold product \u2014 and CZ\u2019s sharp critique<\/a> that such tokens are \u201cnot truly on-chain.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs much as you voice against Bitcoin, you are always professional and nonpersonal,\u201d CZ told Schiff on X today. \u201cI appreciate that. Can have a debate about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schiff replied later: \u201cAbsolutely. Several people have already reached out to me offering to moderate. Do you have a preference?\u201d<\/p>\n

All this debate talk arrives hours after President Donald Trump granted a full pardon<\/a> to Changpeng Zhao. President Trump said CZ \u201cwasn\u2019t guilty\u201d and was \u201cpersecuted by the Biden administration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Schiff\u2019s tokenized gold pitch vs. bitcoin<\/h2>\n

Schiff recently said<\/a> that he\u2019s building a tokenized gold platform and neobank, with a blockchain token called Tgold<\/em> at its core.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The product will reportedly allow users to purchase physical gold through a mobile app, store it in secure vaults, and transfer or redeem it digitally.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Schiff describes it as \u201creal money for the digital age\u201d \u2014 physical gold represented on-chain.<\/p>\n

All this comes amid a multiyear gold rally, with prices hitting a record<\/a> $4,380 per ounce earlier this month before settling near $4,128, at time of writing.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Schiff argues that tokenized gold could provide a stable, asset-backed alternative to Bitcoin\u2019s volatility, serving as both a medium of exchange and store of value.<\/p>\n

CZ pushes back: \u201cIt\u2019s a \u2018Trust Me Bro\u2019 Token\u201d<\/h2>\n

CZ wasted no time in firing back.<\/p>\n

On X, he called<\/a> tokenized gold \u201ca \u2018trust-me-bro\u2019 token,\u201d arguing that such assets rely on third-party custodians \u2014 precisely the kind of centralized trust structures Bitcoin was designed to eliminate.<\/p>\n

\u201cTokenizing gold is NOT \u2018on-chain\u2019 gold,\u201d CZ wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s tokenizing that you trust some third party will give you gold at some later date \u2014 maybe decades later, during a war, after management changes, etc.\u201d<\/p>\n

His comments echo a common view among crypto purists: that true digital ownership requires self-custody<\/a> and verifiable scarcity \u2014 traits Bitcoin has, but gold tokens do not.<\/p>\n

As of writing, there is not an agreed-upon or specific time for Schiff and CZ to debate. <\/p>\n
